With the introduction of the International Street Festival in 2016, WVU now hosts two international festivals each year.
The International Street Festival is held in the fall on a Saturday when there is no home football game. It is held in downtown Morgantown between 10:00 and 2:00 pm and provides an opportunity for the university and Morgantown communities to get to know each other in a friendly environment with the emphasis on family entertainment. Stalls representing the many different nationalities represented in the area line the High Street and Courthouse Square and music, dance and other entertainment is offered on stage in the Courthouse Square area.
The traditional International Festival, after several years at Riverfront Park, is now back in the Mountainlair and is held in the spring. The focus is on school children, primarily in grades 5-7, from Monongalia County and surrounding counties. For many rural schools this offers an opportunity for children to meet citizens of other countries and learn about their cultures through presentations and hands-on activities.
