We are here to support you before, during and after your time at WVU. We will advocate on your behalf with your sponsors and the University and provide information, guidance and advice to help you successfully achieve your personal, academic and professional goals!

Is your sponsor making a trip to campus? Let us help them plan their visit! We can advise on the best places to stay and visit, arrange meetings with students, and even help plan programming for your group.

Are you traveling with dependents? We can help provide advice on navigating the local community. Your F2/J2 visa holders are eligible for study while in the US! We can assist you in applying for the WVU Intensive English Program or studying at the University.

West Virginia University requires a release of information on file before student data may be distributed. Please take a moment to sign and return the Information Release to our office at SponsoredStudents@mail.wvu.edu so that we can communicate with your sponsor about your academic achievement and progress.

FERPA Release Form

To avoid late fees and being dropped from class, your financial guarantee must be on file with the office of Student Accounts no later than a month prior to the start of class.

  • Summer April 1

Students who are already covered by other health insurance and meet certain criteria may opt out of WVU’s insurance. If you need to access and submit the waiver for health insurance please click here. For certain sponsors this waiver is submitted on your behalf upon submission of a valid financial guarantee.

As Designated School Officials (DSO) and Alternative Responsible Officers (ARO) we offer guidance and application support for visas, I-20 creation and maintenance, maintenance of status, employment authorization, social security cards, driver’s licenses, federal and state taxes, as well as any other need. Stop by to see us or make an appointment to discuss your student status.

We encourage every student to share his or her unique perspectives and diverse cultural heritage because we believe our students are vital contributors to University and Community. We do this in part by offering programs throughout the year including international fairs and festivals, trips to explore the community, cultural celebrations, and events and activities to learn more about West Virginia University and the services we have to offer.
