International Festival 2015

For the fourth year the International Festival was held in cooperation with the Greater Morgantown community and WVU's Diversity Week. Unfortunately on this occasion the weather gods did not smile on us and it rained heavily all day. The decision was made to change the location to the Marilla Pavilion and to start the festival one hour later to accommodate set up in the new space, resulting in cancellations from some of the visiting schools and exhibitors. However, for those who did attend, both school children and exhibitors, it was a lively and successful event.

The Exhibitors were:

  • Bangladeshi Student Association
  • Brazilian Student Association
  • Chinese Students and Scholars Association
  • Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi
  • International Student Organization
  • Malaysian Students Association
  • Taiwan Student Association
  • Tanzania
  • WVU International Programs
  • Women Across Cultures

Students from Long Drain School in Wetzel County traveled for an hour and a half to attend the Festival and enjoyed meeting the international community and learning about their cultures. Students from Cheat Lake Elementary in Monongalia also attended the festival and enjoyed the experience, despite the change of venue and time.

Following recommendations received from the exhibitors and schools, it is likely that the 2016 Festival will return to the Mountainlair. As soon as dates and times are finalized, the information will be posted here.
