NOTE: Undergraduate students who have applied for and paid their housing deposit are permitted to move into the residence halls on August 7-8, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
NOTE: Intensive English Program (IEP) students are not required to attend this orientation session. They will have alternate orientation dates communicated directly through the IEP.
Schedule of Events
Orientation will introduce you to West Virginia University and Morgantown, allow you to meet other new students, and provide information on topics such as campus activities, health insurance requirements, managing your immigration and SEVIS record, U.S laws, and cultural adjustment. Staff members from offices around campus have made special arrangements to participate in this event so that they can introduce themselves and discuss the services and support they provide. Further questions about orientation can be answered by ISSS staff during check-in.

9:00 -10:30 A.M. | Being an International Student
Mountainlair Ballrooms, second floor
This session explains important information for international students, including immigration, technology, academic standards, and more.
10:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. | Exchange Student Activities
Exchange Students Only
An afternoon planned activities and introduction to American collegiate life.
10:50 A.M. - 12:15 P.M. | Academic Sessions by College
Meet with representatives from your academic college or school and hear what to expect in your first semester. You will be given the tools to make sure you are on track for graduation and prepared for your future career.
Noon - 1:00 P.M. | Lunch Mountainlair eateries
Free lunch?! Enjoy a meal on us.
1:15 - 4:00 P.M. | Advising and Placement Testing
Mountainlair & Armstrong Hall
Meet with an academic adviser to register for your first semester classes. If needed, take the ALEKS math placement exam.
2:00 - 3:00 P.M. | Parent Question and Answer Session
Shenandoah Room, Mountainlair
Parents of students can chat with representatives from the Mountaineer Parents Club, learning how to stay connected with your student while they're in school.
2:00 - 4:00 P.M. | Information Fair
